Fulham Retirement Apartment
Fulham, London

A new-build retirement apartment transformed through art and antiques

This purpose-built apartment in a new retirement complex was an empty white box when my client bought it – a blank canvas completely lacking in personality.  My client already had a vast art collection and wanted to keep as many of her pieces as possible.  We worked together to choose paint colours that would provide a good background for her art whilst adding warmth and comfort.

We reused as much furniture from her previous home as possible, as she had some beautiful antique pieces, sourcing second-hand pieces, or items with a low environmental footprint to complete the scheme.  Bespoke joinery was designed to create a home office, and to provide storage for her books and objets d’art.

To cater for her mobility issues, we motorised the curtains, and added mobility aids in the bathrooms to enable her to continue to live independently for as long as possible.
